SYNCASTER UNIT 7352101
Syncaster Unit 7352101 was discovered when searching for anomalous growth patterns of flora and fauna and scavenge patterns of survivors. An area of approximately 4.9km² was found to have no travel of upper cognition mammals including humans. After continued plus observations showing a sustained pattern the decision to enter the area was reached by committee. Volunteers were requested, 4 came forward, two were prepped for exploration and extraction.

Faraday suits have proven plus effective. Our scanners have recorded a sweeping signal from Beta through Theta typical of a Syncaster's Disruption Mode. An additional uplink handshake emits every 8hrs with a standard EW Railtech header. After a :15 megaburst the uplink is turned off, also standard protocol. The seep is nearly constant but broadcast power varies greatly, possibly noting a weak power supply. With plus strong signals location was simple to locate, a supply storage bunker. Building was not secured. We observed, with little effort 4 human, 3 dog, 2 deer carcasses immediately close to the structure. All were in advanced decay with little but bones and minimal flesh on some. No doubt victims to the broadcast signal.
Tech 3197, Jones, experienced a double plus ungood amount of discomfort and pain, probable cause, damage to his faraday. I suggested he remain outside the building until the unit could be boxed. Scans showed little indication of concern for complications. Scavengers were not present, and the unit had been utilising a predictable sweep.
Unit was fully powered on but had obvious signs for degradation. Core appears to be still hot with sustaining output. I suspect the signal drops were a side effect of oxidation. Some physical damage is noted, most likely caused by failing roof of the building. Boxing was otherwise standard with nothing to note. Signal bleed is minimal and faradays are not needed, however, protocol should be maintained. The Syncaster incident from a few years ago remains still a fear of mine. Once boxing was complete Jones noted the almost immediate cessation of effects.
This unit could be reset and recoded to be used for our uplink project or it could be utilised in perimeter scanning since it's sweeps appear in plusgood condition.
NOTE: Inside the building there were still plentiful stores in fuel tanks, hydraulic fluids, and dry goods. A properly equipped team should be sent to secure the supplies. The building will not remain untouched for long.

Post Addendum This unit has been reset with a full memory wipe. Updated initiatives have proven plus useful as part of our uplink program. With a new focused array the unit is quite capable of providing secure net communications allowing us the increase our range to field locations. It is kept well protected to avoid further damage or degradation. The unit had suffered a failed inducer coil and rerouted to continue core initiative. This had created the spikes and drops previously recorded on the field retrieval.
